As more people watch reality TV shows that focus on the joys of outdoor life, it’s easy to understand why more people are becoming interested in camping. If you think it’s time to take an adventure of your own, learn a few tricks to make your experience into a great one.
You might think nature naturally provides all the wood you need, but the wood where you are could have already been picked clean, or it could be wet. It’s a great idea to carry your own wood with you and to keep it secure in a dry area.
It is important to keep in mind the fact that your person and all of your possessions will get dirty during a camping trip. If you’re prepared beforehand, it won’t stress you out when it occurs. Just enjoy and appreciate being free in the wilderness; get stuck in and get messy. Things will go to back to normal soon enough.
Pack and carry a survival kit on your person for the entire trip. Things to include in your survival pack are a knife, matches that are waterproof, first aid kit, flares and tablets to purify water. If you were to get lost or were put in an emergency situation, the survival kit will be of great help. Never leave the kit behind, even for a short excursion.
Pack in excess for your kids when you are going camping. Camping can be quite dirty. Kids love to play in the dirt and will bring it back to your tent. This means that by day’s end your children and their clothes can be quite soiled. You may not be able to keep them clean, but you can bring a change of clothes. The key is being prepared.
Be sure that you have a big enough tent for everyone that’s going to need it for shelter at night. This will allow you to sleep more comfortably and get up easier during the night when you need to use the bathroom.
Make sure your medical insurance is up-to-date. If you go camping out of state, you may need to have coverage where you go. This is a bigger factor if you’re traveling to another country for a camping trip, such as Canada. Be prepared in case there is an injury or illness.
If you are camping in the summer, go swimming too. When you go camping, you can miss out on things like showers. You’ll feel much cleaner by swimming in cool water. Therefore, you aren’t going to miss your home shower as much.
Be sure to bring a supply of oranges with you on your trip; they are both healthy and keep mosquitoes away. Don’t throw away the peels when you are finished with them and rub them on yourself. Apply to any skin that’s exposed to keep insects away with no chemicals. It’s a lot cheaper than spending your money on bug spray!
There is a lot to think about before you go camping. It’s important to be prepared. Being forewarned you can now enjoy your trip away and have a lot of fun on your next camping vacation!…
